Johannes Itten was one of the first people to define and identify strategies for successful color combinations. Through his research he devised seven methodologies for coordinating colors utilizing the hue’s contrasting properties:
— contrast of light and dark
— contrast of saturation
— contrast of hue
— contrast of compliments
— contrast of warm and cool
— contrast of extension
— simultaneous contrast
Attendance and grades
You will receive one final grade at the end of the semester.
In order to get an A, you must show new work every week.
If you are absent or late for class more than 3 times, your final grade will be reduced and
you may fail the class.
If you miss a project deadline, your final grade will be reduced.
If you are sick or have an emergency, you’ll be excused from class but you’ll still be accountable for the assignments.

— production, use of materials and technology, craftsmanship, skill
— original ideas and designs
— participation in critiques and discussions
